I met with Luise in 2014 while living in Salzburg. I became her adopted granddaughter very quickly, even though I didn't speak her language, nor she knew Turkish. A warm, collaborative relationship let me into her world in the Austrian Alps. Calm, kind, slow but textured with a path of her well-lived life.
With Good Morning Luise series, you can glimpse Luise's life. I believe the only difference between two people is their stories; by learning the stories of places and people, we create empathy and connection- which the world needs the most.
Luise was born in Omis, a little city in South Croatia on March 20th 1925.
During the Second World War her father decided to move Austria for safety reasons. When she was 24 years old, she fell in love with an Austrian soldier who was fighting against the Russian army. They got married on 1952.
For Luise every flower is a symbol of love and peace that world needs.
